How to convert CapCut to SRT
Convert readable CapCut or JianYing drafts to SRT online. Upload your project's draft_info.json or draft_content.json and CutConvert pulls out the timed text tracks. It can't read encoded or encrypted drafts. For those, export captions as SRT from CapCut.
Find your draft_info.json
On CapCut desktop, each project has a folder containing draft_info.json or draft_content.json. It is usually under CapCut's User Data > Projects > com.lveditor.draft. Sort the folders by date modified to find your latest project. The CapCut export guide has the full walkthrough.

The converter finds the text tracks in the draft, joins each caption to its timing, and writes the SRT. The SRT holds only the captions. The same draft also holds your edit, and the CapCut to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro converters turn it into a project. If you drop every JSON file from the folder, the draft converts and the result names the metadata files (draft_meta_info.json and the like) as skipped.

CapCut draft and SRT subtitles, explained
A CapCut draft is the whole project, with every clip reference, effect and sticker. That is why draft files run big even when the captions are a few kilobytes. This converter reads only the text tracks (type "text") and joins them to their materials by id. It converts timing from CapCut's microseconds to SRT's milliseconds. Styled caption content is unwrapped to plain text, and both auto-captions and manual text come through. We verified the format support against real drafts generated with the library CapCut itself accepts projects from. It reads CapCut desktop and JianYing project drafts only. For captions from the mobile app, sync the project to desktop first.

Where is draft_content.json on my computer?
CapCut desktop keeps one per project. On Windows it is under AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Projects\com.lveditor.draft. On Mac it is under ~/Movies/CapCut/User Data/Projects/com.lveditor.draft. Each project is a folder. Sort by date modified and look inside for draft_content.json. The guide walks through it step by step, with screenshots of what to look for.
It says my draft_info.json or draft_content.json is unreadable. What now?
Either draft filename can hold unreadable data. The filename alone doesn't prove encryption, and uploading the same file again won't fix it. Open the project in CapCut, export its captions as SRT, then convert that SRT to the format you need. Save empty or damaged drafts again from the project.
What about draft_meta_info.json and the other files in the project folder?
They hold the project's metadata: its name, cover, and the list of imported media. No captions live there, so they can't convert. Drop them alongside the draft and the result says which file carried the captions and that you can ignore the others.
Can CapCut export an SRT directly?
CapCut supports SRT caption export in versions that offer it. Choose caption export and SRT in its export options. CutConvert can also pull timed text, including manual text tracks, from readable project drafts.
Does it work with auto-captions?
Yes. Auto-generated captions and manually typed text both live in the draft's text tracks. Both convert with their exact timing.
Why is my draft file so large?
The draft describes your entire project, including clips, effects and keyframes, not only captions. A long or effect-heavy edit can push the file past the free size cap even when the captions are tiny. Above the cap, the captions are a $3 single conversion. The whole edit as a Premiere, Resolve or Final Cut project is $5 up to 50 MB and $15 up to 500 MB. Pro covers drafts up to 50 MB, and Studio goes to 500 MB.
Does this work for CapCut mobile projects?
Not directly. Mobile drafts live on the phone. Sync or open the project in CapCut desktop first, then take draft_content.json from the desktop project folder.
Can I get VTT or a Word document instead of SRT?
Yes. The JSON to VTT and JSON to Word converters read the same drafts. Use SRT for editing software and most platforms, and VTT for web players.

Where are my files processed?
In your browser. The file never leaves your computer, and CutConvert only records that a conversion happened. We never see, store, sell or share your media.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Files up to about an hour of footage convert free on every converter. CapCut projects are free up to 500 KB. Guests get five conversions a month; a free account has no monthly cap within the free size caps. Bigger files are $3 each, or $5 for a project conversion from one program to another. Pro is $9 a month ($90 a year) for files up to 50 MB. Studio is $19 a month ($190 a year) for files up to 500 MB.
What do I get when I convert multiple files?
One ZIP with every converted file. A single file comes back on its own. Press + to add more output formats: they go in the same ZIP, and each file still counts as one conversion.
Which formats are supported?
Projects in: Premiere .prproj, DaVinci Resolve .drp, Avid AAF and bins, Final Cut FCPXML, CapCut drafts and Audition sessions. Projects out: FCP7 XML, FCPXML, Resolve .drp, AAF, CapCut and REAPER, plus CMX 3600 EDL and shot-list CSV. Transitions, markers, titles, keyframes, levels, speed changes and nested sequences carry over wherever the target app can hold them. Captions: SRT, WebVTT, SBV, ASS, TTML, DFXP, iTT, SCC, MCC, EBU-STL, Avid caption TXT, timed CSV, Word and plain text. Transcripts: Whisper, WhisperX, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai and CapCut JSON, Premiere transcript JSON and .prtranscript, and Rev, Otter and Word-style text. Styling, placement and speakers come along where the output supports them.
Can I pick a frame rate?
Yes. For EDL and Avid caption output, choose 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 or 30 fps, or let CutConvert detect it from your source.
