00:00:00:00Handback by CutConvert ยท for editors Beta

Stop decoding timecode notes.

Let your producer show you.

Send your cut as a link. They reorder and trim it on their phone, on a copy. You keep what you agree with, and it lands back in your own project, media still linked.

You send the cut as a link. Nobody gets your project or your media.

00:00:31:12The notes you get now

Which second shot? How long is long? Where's up?

Notes arrive by email, text, voice memo and a timecode list from a different version. You decode them, guess, export, upload, and wait to find out you guessed wrong. Every round costs a day.

A handback is the change itself, on your timeline, waiting for you to say yes.

  1. 01 ยท IN 00:00:00:00

    You send

    • Drop the .prproj, .drp, .fcpxml or Avid .aaf, or choose Send to producer in the CutConvert panel inside Premiere.
    • Point it at your media folder. Your browser makes a 720p copy; your project and media stay with you.
    • Copy the link or email it. Add an expiry or a passphrase if you like.

    They show you

    • Drag clips into a new order
    • Drag the yellow ends to shorten, or lengthen back
    • Remove a shot
    • Add a title card where footage is missing
    • Pin a note to a spot on the picture
    • Approve

No app, no account, no footage to download.

  3. 03 ยท BACK ON YOUR TIMELINE

    You choose

Their version arrives beside yours with every change named. Take it, take part of it, or set it aside.

Download your project with the changes written in. Their notes come in as markers on the frames they're about.

00:01:28:16Your timeline, your call

Nothing changes until you accept

Their version is a suggestion. Your project is only touched when you say so.

They never see your project

No bins, no media, no other sequences. Just a watermarked 720p copy with no download button.

Only what's in the cut

They can't reach for footage you didn't use. Missing a shot? They add a title card saying so.

Links you control

Set an expiry or a passphrase, see who opened it, and switch it off whenever you like.

00:01:44:08What comes back

Checked in Premiere Pro 26.

A producer's reordered, shortened and carded cut, with a note, exported, saved by Premiere and read back:

Questions editors ask

Does my producer need an account or any software?

No. They open a link on a phone or a laptop. They give a name only when they leave a note or send a change, so you know who it came from.

Can they change my project?

No. They never see your project, bins or media, only a 720p review copy. Everything they do arrives as a suggestion, and nothing changes in your project unless you accept it.

What comes back into my project?

The project you started with, with only the changes you accepted: reordered and shortened clips, removed shots, and markers for their notes. A title card arrives as a gap of its length with a marker carrying its text. Clips still point at your original media.

Which editing applications does it work with?

Premiere Pro, checked end to end in Premiere Pro 26. Older Premiere projects come back as a Premiere XML sequence to import. DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro projects can be sent too. Avid AAF sequences support rough-cut editing and handback as a new AAF to import and relink. Avid proprietary effects require review, native Avid acceptance is unverified, and free Media Composer First cannot import or export AAF. Check the result in your application before you deliver.

How long can a cut be?

Up to three hours. Your browser makes the 720p copy; over 30 minutes, or when the browser can't, you export an MP4 from Premiere with the settings the page gives you.

What does it cost?

Producers never pay. Free accounts can have two cuts out for review at once. Taking changes back into your project is free the first time once you're signed in, then $5 per project, which covers its later revisions. Pro ($9 a month) has no cap and includes the exports.

How is this different from Frame.io comments?

Comment tools let a producer mark a moment and describe a change; you still work out what they meant and make it. Here they make the change on a copy, so you see what they mean and accept it in one step. Their notes still arrive as markers, so you can use both.
