CutConvert for Premiere Pro

Drop a transcript or caption file on the panel, pick the output, and it lands in your project. The converters run inside Premiere; nothing is uploaded. Included with Pro and Studio.

  1. Download the panel (.ccx). Double-click the file. The Creative Cloud desktop app installs it and may warn that it comes from outside the Marketplace; that is expected for a direct download.
  2. On the billing page, create a panel key and copy it. It is shown once.
  3. In Premiere Pro 25.6 or newer, open Window → Extensions → CutConvert, paste the key under Panel key, and save.
  4. Choose files, pick the output, press Convert. Captions are imported into the open project; transcripts are saved next to the source.

What the panel does

It is the website’s converter engine, packaged as a Premiere extension. Drop an SRT, VTT, SBV, ASS, timed CSV, Rev or Otter text transcript, Whisper-style JSON, a .prtranscript, FCPXML or EDL on it. The panel detects the format, offers the outputs that make sense for it with the same Kept and Changed line as the site, converts on your machine, writes the result next to the source and imports caption files into the open project.

Metering matches the website: files within the free size cap for that converter use no credits; larger files use the credits of your plan. The panel needs Pro or Studio to convert at all, because it is part of what those plans pay for.

Troubleshooting

If the panel does not appear under Window → Extensions, check the Premiere version under Help → About; the panel needs 25.6 or newer. If the key is rejected, create a fresh one on the billing page; keys that were revoked stop working immediately. If Premiere did not import the captions automatically, they are still next to the source file; drag them into the Project panel.

FAQ

Which Premiere Pro versions does the panel support?

Premiere Pro 25.6 and newer, on macOS and Windows. It is built on UXP, Adobe’s current extension platform, so it installs through the Creative Cloud desktop app with a double-click and needs no third-party installer.

Do my files get uploaded?

No. The converters are the same code that runs on cutconvert.com, bundled into the panel. Files are read and written on your machine. The panel talks to CutConvert only to check your plan and to meter files above the free size cap, and it sends file names and sizes for that, never contents.

What does it cost?

The panel is included with Pro ($9 a month) and Studio ($19 a month). You can create a panel key on any plan; the panel starts converting once the account is on Pro or Studio. File-size metering is the same as on the website.

What is a panel key?

A key you create on the billing page and paste into the panel once. It lets the panel act for your account. It is shown once, stored hashed, and can be revoked from the billing page at any time.

Which outputs are imported into the project automatically?

Caption files (SRT, SCC, MCC, EBU-STL, VTT) and XML are imported into the open project through Premiere’s own import. Premiere transcript JSON cannot be imported by extensions, so the panel saves it next to the source and you bring it in from the Text panel with Import transcript.

Where are converted files saved?

Next to the source file, with the new extension. If that folder is not writable, the panel asks you to pick a folder once per session.

What about DOCX, .prproj and .drp?

Not yet in the panel. Those formats need decompression the Premiere extension runtime does not provide. Use cutconvert.com for them; the panel covers subtitle and transcript formats.
